Project Esperanza is a non-profit organization based out of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. We are students and community members who use our individual gifts, interests, and resources to serve where we can and to reach across cultural barriers. Through volunteer trips, creative fundraising, and other methods of raising awareness, we work together to create positive change in the community of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, in our own local New River Valley community, and in ourselves.
Esperanza means "hope" in Spanish, the official language of the Dominican Republic.
We believe that there is an incredible amount of untapped resources in every person. You are invited to join us by reaching your own potential and influencing others to do the same!
