Sponsorship
Project Esperanza currently has a minimal monthly budget of $2,130 which covers basic expenses and does not include the salary of any developed country citizen, an emergency fund, physical maintenance (in reference to repairs), or the purchase of new materials. This monthly budget covers:
Since we began functioning in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic in 2006, funds have been raised through merchandise sales, creative fundraisers led by teams of volunteers, and through donations. We have yet to receive any large grants from foundations. We have a few business endeavors in the beginning stages which will provide work for those that need it as well as generate funds for Project Esperanza, but no steady income is received from these efforts yet. While merchandise sales and fundraisers can occur somewhat sporadically, we are provided with a certain amount of stability from our trusty monthly sponsors.
Project Esperanza currently receives $653 from 10 monthly sponsors, each donating between $30 and $183 monthly. Project Esperanza receives funds through direct withdrawal or checks mailed in by sponsors. The direct withdrawal option provides us with the most stability and saves sponsors from having to send in checks monthly. We also prefer that sponsors give monthly rather than send a yearly check because having the funds available each month rather than all at once helps us to manage them more successfully.
Our Goal: We hope to increase our reliable monthly income that comes from sponsors to safely cover our monthly expenses. This will allow other sources of sporadic income (fundraisers, merchandise sales, & one time donations) to be used for additional expenses and growth efforts. We fall $1,479 short of this goal each month. Therefore, we have the goal of recruiting 50 new sponsors to commit to giving $30 each month for one year. Will you consider making such a commitment?
Monthly sponsors receive frequent (normally weekly) updates from Project Esperanza director on the ground in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. These updates provide great insight into the situation faced and the work being done. Past and current sponsors have made such comments as :
